Crawford
Crawford is a town in Washington County, incorporated on February 11, 1828 under the name of Adams from the former T20, E.D. township. The name was changed to Crawford on February 28, 1828 after William Harris Crawford who was Treasury Secretary under President James Madison.
Crawford Lake occupies the center of the town and is an attraction for fishing and recreation. The town is located on Maine Route 9, following the tracks of the old Airline Stage Route.
