Farmingdale

Farmingdale, in Kennebec County, was incorporated on April 3, 1852 from parts of Gardiner, Hallowell, and West Gardiner. On the Kennebec River just north of Gardiner, it is a residential community serving the Augusta-Gardiner capital area. The renewal of the river's water quality in recent decades has supported the development of a marina and increased recreational boating in the area. Several fine, large homes overlook the Kennebec River and U.S. Route 201 just north of Gardiner. From Maine: An Encyclopedia (www.themaineencyclopedia.com)
