What's it like in...
Harpswell
Harpswell is a town in Cumberland County. Settled in 1689, incorporated as a district in 1758 and as a town in 1775, it has the longest coastline of any town in Maine. It includes Orrs Island, Bailey Island, and the village Cundy's Harbor on Great or Sebascodegan Island.
Though many Maine towns are 6-mile by 6-mile squares, thus 36 square miles, Harpswell's irregular shape yields 24.6 square miles. That same irregular shape accounts for its approximately 150 miles of coastline.

Dec 26, 2007 11:13 AMMy aunt has a small cottage on the water in South Harpswell and it really is a beautiful place to spend warm summer weekends. There's nothing like waking to the sound of lobster boats and the smell of the ocean. It's the best and I highly recommend it!
