What's it like in...
Harrison
Harrison is a town in Cumberland County, settled in 1792 and incorporated on March 8, 1805 from portions of Otisfield and Bridgton. It set off land to form part of Naples in 1834, and annexed land from Bridgton in 1866 and 1877.
The main village straddles Long Lake and Crystal Lake, also known as Anonymous Pond, where Maine routes 35 and 117 join.
Just north of Naples, Harrison has substantial frontage on Long Lake. A growing community within commuting distance of Portland, it lies just above Sebago Lake on Maine Route 35.

May 28, 2006 1:21 PMHarrison has an uncanny atmosphere of peace and tranquility. While sitting on the deck of the Caswell House on a hot summer afternoon, enjoying cocktails and a savory meal, you can watch old friends pass by acknowledging your presence with a wave, nod or honk of their horn. In your moments of euphoria you can hear the murmur of boats out on the lake and birds in the trees. You can walk Main Street to the beach and just enjoy the sounds and smells of every day life for the lucky residents of this lovely old town.
Living in a Florida metropolis has made me realize just how much I miss this old, familiar, peaceful area of the world!
